Citrus Bergamot and Olive Leaf: What Is Inside a 1,200 mg Capsule

By the Zespo team · Updated 26 October 2026

Citrus bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is a small, sour citrus fruit grown mainly along the coast of Calabria in southern Italy. Its peel oil gives Earl Grey tea its flavour, and the fruit's juice and peel are dried into extracts.

What is olive leaf powder?

Olive leaf comes from the same tree (Olea europaea) as olives and olive oil. The leaves are dried and powdered, or extracted. Olive leaf naturally contains a compound called oleuropein.

How a combined label reads

When two ingredients share one capsule, the label should show the amount of each. A "1,200 mg" figure is usually the total per serving, so check how it splits between bergamot extract and olive leaf, and how many capsules make a serving.

What to check before you buy

  • The amount of each ingredient per serving, not just per capsule
  • How many capsules make one serving and how many servings are in the pack
  • Whether any ingredient sits inside an undisclosed "proprietary blend"
  • The veg/non-veg mark and the manufacturer details on the pack
