Supplement packs can look complicated, but five checks tell you most of what you need to know.
1. FSSAI licence number
Every nutraceutical sold in India must carry a 14-digit FSSAI licence number. You can look it up on the FSSAI FoSCoS website.
2. Serving size
Amounts on the label are per serving. "1,200 mg per serving" may mean two capsules, not one.
3. Amount of each ingredient
Look for a clear milligram figure for every ingredient. Be cautious with "proprietary blends" that hide the individual amounts.
4. Servings per pack
Divide the price by the number of servings to compare real cost per day between brands.
5. Veg mark and statements
Check the green (vegetarian) or brown (non-vegetarian) mark and the statement that the product is not for medicinal use, both required on Indian nutraceutical labels.
Zespo prints the dose of every ingredient and the number of servings on each pack. Browse label facts for every product in our product index.
