Glutathione is a tripeptide, a small molecule made from three amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. The body makes its own, and it is also present in foods such as asparagus, avocado, spinach and okra.
Reduced glutathione
Most glutathione supplements contain reduced glutathione, often labelled "L-glutathione reduced" or GSH. It is typically produced by yeast fermentation.
S-acetyl glutathione
S-acetyl glutathione (SAG) is the same molecule with an acetyl group attached to the sulphur atom of cysteine. This small change makes it a different ingredient on the label, so a product should say which form it uses.
What to check before you buy

- How many capsules make one serving and how many servings are in the pack
- Whether any ingredient sits inside an undisclosed "proprietary blend"
- An FSSAI licence number and the veg/non-veg mark on the pack
We also offer Zespo Glutathione 500 mg (reduced form).
