Grape seed extract is made from the seeds of grapes (Vitis vinifera), usually collected as a by-product of juice and wine making, then dried and extracted.
What are proanthocyanidins?
Grape seeds are rich in proanthocyanidins, also called OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidins), a group of natural plant polyphenols that also give grape skins and red wine part of their astringent taste.
What does "95%" mean?
An extract standardised to 95% proanthocyanidins contains about 95 mg of proanthocyanidins in every 100 mg of extract. So 500 mg of a 95% extract provides roughly 475 mg of proanthocyanidins. Labels without a percentage give no guarantee.
What to check before you buy
