Mushroom complexes often combine several species. Two of the most common partners for cordyceps are reishi and turkey tail. Read about cordyceps and keeda jadi.
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)
Reishi, called lingzhi in Chinese, is a glossy, reddish-brown, kidney-shaped mushroom that grows on decaying hardwood. It is too woody and bitter to eat, so it is traditionally simmered as tea or extracted.
Turkey tail (Trametes versicolor)
Turkey tail is a thin, fan-shaped mushroom with rings of brown, tan and grey that look like a turkey's tail feathers. It grows on dead logs around the world.
Reading a mushroom complex label
Check which mushrooms are included, the amount of each per serving, and whether fruiting body, mycelium or extract is used.
